Furnished rentals have a reputation for being the “expensive, temporary” option. For a lot of renters — especially students and anyone relocating for work — that reputation doesn't hold up once you actually do the math.

Furnished isn't just furniture — it's time. Move-in day for an unfurnished suite often means a week (or more) of sleeping on an air mattress while you source everything else. A furnished suite means you unpack your bags and you're done. For students starting a new semester or hospital staff starting a new rotation, that time matters more than people expect.

Where unfurnished still wins. If you're settling in long-term and want your own furniture and full creative control over your space, unfurnished (or bringing your own setup into a furnished-optional building) makes more sense. It's a genuine trade-off, not a one-size-fits-all answer.
